HYSTEROSCOPY
A direct view inside the uterus
Hysteroscopy uses a thin, lighted instrument passed through the vagina and cervix to view the inside of the uterus. It may be used to evaluate abnormal bleeding or to identify and treat selected polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or other uterine findings.
Whether hysteroscopy is performed in the office or another setting depends on the planned procedure, medical history, and comfort needs.
Planning and recovery
We explain preparation, pain-control options, expected duration, transportation needs, recovery, and warning signs. If tissue is removed, it may be sent for laboratory examination.
